Energy & CO2 within Buildings

CARBON EMISSIONS METHOD
To put preserving our world into action, carbon emissions need to be cut down.

Building Regulations have been updated to ensure buildings being designed and built today are helping to make this change. The revision of Part L Approved Documents is an outcome of "the Governments Energy While Paper" commitment to raise the energy performance of buildings.

PART L - CONSERVATION OF FUEL & POWER
This section of the building regulations covers the requirements with respect to saving fuel and power
within buildings. By having these regulations, buildings today will make less of a contribution to carbon
emissions.
Part L includes regulations such as:

Limiting heat gain and loses:
  • Through thermal elements and other parts of the building fabric.
  • From pipes, ducts and vessels used for space heating, space cooling and hot water services.

Providing fixed building services which:
  • Are energy efficient.
  • Have effective controls.

APPROVED DOCUMENT L
The current version of 'Approved Document L: Conservation of fuel and power' is split into four parts,
